The differentiation may be in policy or procedure but none the less the difference can cause a rift.</p>

<p>How to balance change is a leadership challenge. Here is a leadership tip to maintain unity and still establish another’s perspective within a collaborative group.<span id="more-934"></span></p>
<p>1)      Do not allow the communication to focus on put downs, slurs or degrading comments.</p>
<p>2)      Do not allow the communication to be negative; pointing out the problem is better when a potential solution follows.</p>
<p>3)      Do not allow feelings to overtake reason.</p>
<p>Conflict is unavoidable when clashes of perception arise. Business skills for today must include business communication. Ask how important the matter is today, tomorrow and five years later.</p>
<p>As a team player, the dilemma of fitting in for unity versus the singular step of voicing another opinion may have ramifications. The determination is often dependent upon the results. So, ask what will happen if I do stand out? Then ask, what will happen if I don’t?</p>
